Bridgeland poppy display honours veterans during the season of remembrance – In honour of Remembrance Day this year, Silvera called on residents and several community partners to help us recognize this important occasion.
Thirty Suncor volunteers came out on a crisp fall day to hang painted wooden poppies along the fence behind our Aspen Commons community in Bridgeland. Check out this video to see the poppies on display.
The display was a true group effort, as Silvera residents painted 450 of the poppies, students at Kenneth D Taylor School painted 400 and Suncor volunteers painted another 150 to make one thousand poppies in total!
In addition, to support from our volunteers, this project was also made possible by Canadian Makers, Fuse33 and Cycling Without Age, who cut out the poppies and donated the wood and labour. Thanks also to Dulux for donating the paint.
On November 11, Silvera’s supportive living communities are holding Remembrance Day ceremonies for residents. If you go past the display along Memorial Drive, please also take a moment to remember those who have bravely served. Lest we forget.
