Bow Valley Commons residents have some time to plan exactly how they will inaugurate their new outdoor patio area built by Q Construction Management this fall.

Before the snow flew, the local contractor and their sub-trades donated the materials and skills for a concrete pad and pergola structure in the new outdoor space at Bow Valley. The structure includes seating, a fire pit and some built-in tables for residents to enjoy barbecues and other outdoor experiences through the warmer months.
“Q is a young company, and we’re always looking for opportunities in supporting our community by figuring out ways we can create a positive social impact,” says Jason Elvy, who is part owner of Q Construction.
Q, a firm focused primarily on multi family and commercial construction, was formed in 2017. They recently performed a restoration project at Silvera’s Mountview Apartments building, which was damaged by fire in 2023.
Through that contract, Jairo Rodriguez, a Capital Projects manager at Silvera, and Dave Hamoui and Tracy Chan, project managers at Q, developed a strong working relationship. Jairo told them there was an opportunity to support Silvera’s Bow Valley community, which underwent some other upgrades this summer, and Q stepped up.
“Jairo is very personable and really enjoys working with Silvera’s residents, and his attitude is pretty contagious,” says Dave. “It really made us want to do something to support the seniors, and when I told the owners of Q we could contribute to Silvera in this way, they were all for it.”
Q is made up of a group of entrepreneurs, sub-trades and suppliers, which gives them freedom to create social impact the best way they see fit, says Jason.
“Dave told us he thought this was an excellent opportunity to give back to the community, so we jumped in,” he says.
“I really like the whole feeling of giving back,” says Dave. “I’ve enjoyed getting to know the residents at both Silvera communities we’ve worked at. It’s been very fun.”
Building strong communities for seniors is important, Jason believes. “I was always taught to respect my elders, as they are the ones who’ve allowed us to live the lives we’re living today. This new patio area at Bow Valley is a small gesture of thanks to the generations of people who have helped to build this fantastic city.”
