Effective Nov. 1, all visitors to Silvera communities will be required to show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination along with photo identification prior to entry.
Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health has stated that seniors’ living operators, including Silvera, “have the authority to implement additional mandatory measures in their facilities as appropriate in consultation with their residents and families. This could include requirements for proof of [COVID-19] vaccination or rapid testing for visitors entering the site.”
Silvera recently surveyed supportive living residents and family members asking for feedback about visitor proof of vaccine. The survey revealed that 94% of residents in our supportive living communities and 83% of family contacts are in favor requiring visitors to provide proof of vaccine upon entry to Silvera buildings.
All visitors – including family members, contractors, delivery people, volunteers, etc. – must now be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and show their vaccine record along with government-issued photo ID. We will also accept medical exemption letters on letterhead from a doctor. We will not accept a negative COVID test in place of proof of vaccination. Vaccine records may be accessed at https://covidrecords.alberta.ca/home.
Proof of vaccine information will not be stored by Silvera. Each time a visitor wishes to enter a Silvera community, they must complete the health assessment before entering our buildings and then they must proceed to the reception desk to provide their vaccine records.
