In early December, a number of Silvera residents had an opportunity to share their art with the greater community at the Seton YMCA. Residents created a number of pieces during visual art-making sessions with YMCA facilitators at Silvera communities.
YMCA Calgary employed professional artists who then inspired the Silvera artists to embrace self-expression, stretch their creative muscles and explore contemporary art. They learned about light, shadow, line, space, colour theory, and perspective using different mediums and materials, including a variety of paint types, papers, canvases, drawing mediums, and collage.
Not only did the artists find joy in the process, but they also felt a real connection to the Calgary community. Residents were excited to see their artistic creations framed and displayed all together at the YMCA!
